Father in Jesus Name, speak to me and help me to be empowered by this message to fight the spiritual battle I am in. Lord, I submit my plans and self to You so You can work in me and through me in Jesus Name. Amen.
There is no doubt about it, the devil is real. Jesus proved it. The Bible validates it and Jesus was even face to face with the devil in Matthew 4 and Luke 4. The Bible says, “And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.” (Luke 4:1-2) So the issue is clear, Satan is real and his purpose is to destroy, snare and trap every Christian on the planet. If we are responsible enough to God we should admit to ourselves and to Jesus that we have been trapped or are currently in a trap set by Satan.
Paul the Apostle said he was afraid that some of his followers would fall away from Christ and their devotion to Him because of the enemy, Satan. The exact words were “But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.” (2 Corinthians 11:3) [NLT]
When a person becomes more devoted to Jesus Christ in their daily walk with Him through prayer and studying the Bible the enemy radar goes up. You are on the hit-list of hell because you are purifying yourself through the Word of God. But, I am helping others! I shouldn’t fall into the same things. Paul again warns us in Galatians 6:1 “Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.” [NLT]
The very people we seek to help with their issues and problems we have to be on guard for, their sins can become our traps. We can free them but end up in their issues. It’s the trial of being a servant of God. We have to accept the fact that whenever we are battling against the sins of another person we are fighting a spiritual warfare, not a fleshly and carnal one. Paul the Apostle said in Ephesians 6:12 “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” [NLT]
All we do for people when we win them to Christ or start serving them in any capacity is first spiritually and Satan is a spirit who is out to destroy Christians. Peter gives us a vivid description of how seductive satan is in his attacks on Christians. Peter says in 1 Peter 5:8 “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” Peter didn’t pull any punches he tells us straight and clear he is out looking to destroy anyone, someone and yes even you.
The truth of the matter is when we are spiritually fighting for the sins of another person to be destroyed they can overtake us. Paul warned us about in Galatians 6:1. It doesn’t seem fair to help someone get out of their sins and then end up in their sins, but it’s a biblical lesson and truth and if you listen closely God is speaking even in such a circumstance. God is always listening, watching and speaking (mainly through His Word). Whenever you find yourself in the arms of the enemy remember that God is in control and He has never left your side. He promised that. “For God has said, "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you." (Hebrews 13:5) [NLT] The Lord knows what you have fallen into for helping someone and just as someone helped them get out (perhaps you) someone may help you get out, but our trust must rely on God and Him alone to free us.
Never forget this scripture found in 1 Corinthians 10:12 “Don't be so naive and self-confident. You're not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it's useless. Cultivate God-confidence.” (The Message) God in this season could be teaching you to lean on Him for support, freedom and deliverance. He desires to return the freedom you once had before you encountered such a vicious demonic attack for helping someone else. Be aware of God presence in your life and ask Him what He is saying to you if this is for you. God will free you, but God is teaching a lifelong spiritual lesson that could in no other way could be taught. Be wise, listen to His Word, continue to believe when in prayer for freedom and God will set you free in His time, but don’t miss the lessons.
Father in Jesus Name, I pray thankful that You are in control. Lord, I ask that You bless my life with Your wisdom, courage, discernment and gifts of the Holy Spirit. Lord, teach me in this season and help me to be effective in all that I do. Lord, don’t let me miss the lessons You are teaching me in this time of my life in Jesus Name I thank You. Amen.
