When It's Time to Move

Father God in Jesus Name I pray for the Spirit of understanding, counsel and revelation. Holy Spirit illuminate Your Word to make us more like You. Lord, give us faith, courage and dedication to You to move when you say move and stay if You want us to stay. Lord, let us make a decision that glorifies You. However, for now, we need the gift of faith to believe, so we ask for this in Your powerful and loving Sons name, Jesus the Christ. Amen.

“And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness. And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward.” – Exodus 14:10-15 (King James Version)

There are times in life where we are called to move, but we don’t.  We don’t always like movement. Sometimes it is a comfort problem and not a lack of faith problem. Just because you don’t want to be uncomfortable doesn’t mean you don’t want to grow, move and have faith. However, in order to move, your faith is placed into action and you grow in faith all the more.

God had a similar problem with the Children of Israel.  He was leading them out of Egyptian bondage or slavery and they didn’t really want to move.  There is a time to pray and then a time for action. Sometimes our prayers go unanswered because of us, not God. Sometimes we are the answers to others prayers and sometimes others are the answers to our prayers but if we are locked up in the slavery of comfort we can never receive the blessings of God. You rarely hear of a person who does great things for God stuck in a room, (well except for Paul who was in a prison), but the fact remains, we need to move sometimes. The Children of Israel prayed to God and even Moses didn’t know what to do and God basically said “you’ve prayed for this, now why are you still talking? Go forward.” God is calling us to go forward in life. Going forward means forgetting the past.

Moving doesn’t always mean getting out of a house, state, family Church, etc. Although it can mean that, sometimes God wants us to move from a level of faith to another higher level of faith. Sometimes God wants us to move up the ladder of life and do things that mature adults do. Sometimes God wants us to marry a person. Sometimes God wants us to wait on Him but still move in faith expecting the best and expecting God to do something as your feet move.

The Bible says the Word of God is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105) and that Word is like a motion sensor light. When there is no motion, there is no light, but right when there is movement the light comes on. The Lord is our Shepherd, but Shepherds move and the sheep follow.  It’s time for us to start following Jesus our Lord and Savior.  The Holy Spirit will prompt us on what to do, but He doesn’t make us move. He is too kind to force His will. God wants active faith, not forced faith. God is pleased by faith and God rewards you because of your faith. (Hebrews 11:6).

How Do You Move in Faith?

1)      Just Go. Abram was told he was going to a place and he would virtually own it, but God didn’t give him a GPS or a map.  He just had to make a step and trust God enough that if it was the wrong step God would change the direction. Sometimes moving is a trust walk with God. Do you trust God to lead you to the right spouse or are you so discouraged you have forgotten that God is a guide and leader? Have you been so beat down with discouragement that you have stopped moving and expecting God to help because of constant let-downs? Sometimes your let downs prepare you for what’s to come. Delaying moves of God are not denying moves of God but preparatory moves of God.

2)      Pray. It’s still important to pray when you move. It’s vital. But it’s bad to just pray and not move. Faith without works is dead. (James 2:17). Prayer is important as always and will always remain the constant in the Christian walk, but sometimes the Christian walk is just that a walk. Jesus never said sit with me and I will make you disciples and fishers of men. He said follow. Follow requires action. Are you ready for action? Are you really ready for God to literally BLESS YOU finally? Have you ever noticed when a movie is being filmed and the words “ACTION!” are spoken that things begin to happen. God is saying “ACTION!”

3)      Have Faith that He is ABLE. God is able to do it even when it seems impossible. The Children of Israel were led into an unchangeable situation and trap of the enemy by God. God led them. It seems crazy, why God why? Our cry would have been the same as they gave to Moses, well at least sometimes because we all have moments of a lack of faith, but it’s time to get up. God led them. God is leading you. God can lead you into and God can lead you out of. He led them to show His power to them and to non-believers. Sometimes God leads you into things to produce greater levels of trust and faith in Him.

4)      Favor. Expect the favor of God when you start moving. If you move without expectation, you are still not moving. Favor isn’t “oh, I am so good and faithful and filled with faith.” That’s a trust in self and brings pride. Favor is when God says “I am so good and faithful that I WANT to bless My Child.” When God shows true blessings and favor the immediate response should be praise, prayer, renewed devotion to Him and His work in and through you, adoration of His love, worship and absolute awe that He loves you so much. He does want to send favor. However, the next move of God may be dependent upon your movement. Are you ready?

When you move forward, forget the past, forget the regrets, forget the disappointments, forget the traumas and forget the fears. God has your back. Now walk before Him as He told Abraham. “And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.” (Genesis 17:1) Remember, perfect doesn’t mean it the way we think in English, it means to walk in obedience to God.

Again, are you ready?

Father God, I pray for the favor, love, power, expectation of You to lead and give good gifts, grace, mercy, and joy to move forward in life. Lord, guide my steps and help me to walk before You in maturity of faith. Lord God, I surrender my life and desires to You that Your will can be done on Earth for Your glory. Father, fill me with Your power and the Holy Spirit. Free me from me so I can be free to walk in Christ and the liberty that will set me free from the selfish life. God, move with me as I move for You in Jesus Name. Thank You Daddy.
