The Crawl of God

Father God, I come to You grateful. Open my eyes to see a deeper truth behind this text. Holy Spirit give me faith to believe more in You and see a truth in this text I have not seen. Lord God, my life is Yours but some areas truthfully, are not yet, help. Father, may I crawl to you so I can walk with You in Jesus Name. Amen.

“Jesus went with him, and all the people followed, crowding around Him. A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding. She had suffered a great deal from many doctors, and over the years she had spent everything she had to pay them, but she had gotten no better. In fact, she had gotten worse. She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind Him through the crowd and touched His robe. For she thought to herself, "If I can just touch His robe, I will be healed." Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition. Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from Him, so He turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched My robe?" His disciples said to Him, "Look at this crowd pressing around You. How can You ask, 'Who touched Me?'" But He kept on looking around to see who had done it. Then the frightened woman, trembling at the realization of what had happened to her, came and fell to her knees in front of Him and told Him what she had done. And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. Your suffering is over." – Mark 5:24-34 (New Living Translation)

It sounds strange “the crawl of God” when most of the time we hear of the “call of God.” The truth is this text can seem super depressing. The other truth is, while we may not have the same problems as this woman, we do have problems.  Some of our problems have been super consistent and never changing.  This woman thought the doctors had the answers and she spent all her money on them, but the condition grew worse.  Perhaps today, the doctors may have given you every form of medication, advice and they may have sent you to many others for your condition, yet you find no help.

This woman no doubt had to get on her knees and push past this crowd to get to Jesus.  She knew and heard about Him for sure. She knew “if I can get to this guy, He can do what “they” can’t.”  So it is with us, we know God is able, but what about the “twelve” years when God didn’t work? How do we handle these years? How can I survive perhaps more years? While it’s true God comes in His own time often if we are truthful we do NOT like Gods timing and we think He has forgotten us.  Here are some principles for daily application to sustaining your “crawl of God.”

1)      Crawl. When a person crawls, they get on their knees.  When you are in a battle the key isn’t grabbing weapons, anger, cussing, frustration and discouragement. “For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age.” - Ephesians 6:12 (Good News Bible) Those all lead to worse problems, often depression, guilt, abandoning God, hurt and often hurting people, most of them who you truly love.  It’s not easy and don’t need to pretend it is. You must go to God in prayer telling Him the full truth “God, I feel like You aren’t even paying attention and You are walking away from me.” The woman surely could have thought “now I know Jesus is God He’s gotta see me” but she had to take a risk, a risk that changed her entire life. A godly risk, not a foolish risk. Many times in life we make risks that are just completely foolish, but prayer is never wasted time, it’s always invested time, even when you are “pressing through the crowd” (your oppositional problems) to get to Jesus.

2)      Know that God is near. Often when we feel the emotion (not spiritual fact) that God is far away from us, He is closest.  When you were a child someone could sneak up on you and scare you and you would know they are there, but when we grew into adults sometimes someone could get so close to you, you don’t even realize they are that close. God does the same. He is there, even if you can’t understand, figure Him out, wait on His timing or truthfully become angry and frustrated with Jesus. Don’t worry! Jesus forgives and understands we don’t always know His ways, but we can trust the truth of God’s Word; The Holy Bible. He says: “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8-9 (New Living Translation)

3)      Study the Bible and know God in an in-depth way. This woman had a knowledge that Jesus could do it. She also had hopes that man could, but it didn’t work. Many times where man’s limits have reached and end is when we finally reach to God. That in itself is a blessing. But there is no blessing where there is no knowledge of the beauty of Jesus Christ.  Studying your Bible is VITAL to your spiritual walk and faith. (Please look at my Bible Study resources and book list above if you desire GREAT tools to help you). You have to know like this woman Jesus is able to do it, but with such turmoil for so long, even if you know Jesus your faith can start to die and your condition can become your comfort. Yes, it’s true we can find comfort in discomfort. Comfort in just giving up. But when our faith lies dormant, it’s often because we walked away from studying God and we all do it so don’t beat yourself up. God isn’t mad at you. He loves you, deeply and unconditionally. God will never stop loving you and there is nothing you can do to make Him not love you or love you more. Study.

A child must crawl before they walk. So it is spiritually.  The reason you are supposed to crawl now is so you can walk into a greater and more in-depth personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Your problem is designed to take you to a higher level in spiritual growth. God will change the problem, but never ask for the changing until you get the full lesson which He is still teaching.

Father God, I ask that You help me get back into prayer. Revitalize my spiritual walk with You if I have backed up some. I reject the condemnation and guilt from the enemy. I will reject the loud voice of Satan’s accusations against me. Lord help me understand Your truest desires in my problems and let me learn the lessons. Father, my life is Yours, do with it as You will. You know best and I only think I know what is best. I surrender me to You so You can do Your work in me. Hallelujah. I ask this in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him.” – Colossians 2:6 (KJV)
