Satans Purpose Prevention Program

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” – Isaiah 14:12-14

Father God I pray that You speak to me and show me what You desire to show me in this post in the name of Jesus Christ, please fill me with Your Spirit. Amen.

Pride is the enemy of every Christian and it hides deep within us all because of the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.  Pride has enormous repercussions and consequences when it’s left unchecked.  Pride has a way of eating you from the inside out.  Pride has destroyed more people than death itself. Pride stops Gods purpose in your life, if You let it. If you think from a salvation stand-point, pride is the ultimate restrictor of receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Pride is all about itself. Pride is all by itself.  Pride has no interest in anything but self and the worst part is, it’s in ourselves.  Pride has hidden places in our hearts and only God the searcher of our hearts can find it.

In the text we see what caused Satan to fall.  At first Satan was an Angel of God, but then the word “I” became the focus instead of the great “I AM” which is another name of God (Exodus 3:14).  Satan began to give out his own will with his many “I will’s.”  That’s the start of pride, when we exert and promote our will above the will of God.  Pride always starts with rebellion towards what you already know about God.  Jesus, when the disciples were in rejoice mode over casting out demons and doing the work of the ministry quoted a similar scripture “And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.” (Luke 10:18) Jesus obviously knew the in the middle of a successful moment in life or in ministry the illustration of Satan was a pre-caution to His followers.  So, Jesus warned us about the enemy of the Christian, pride.

Pride has a way to find itself in the crevices of our hearts.  Pride can destroy friendships, families, relationships, Churches, and ultimately ourselves.  The only way to defeat the enemy of pride is to reach to the One who can see it, because we cannot.  David gave us insight into how to overcome the natural urge to sin by going against Gods will.  He knew in his lifetime he made mistakes and did some things that were not in the will of God but learned a valuable lesson, letting God search His own heart, not himself. We are prone to errors when we try to get our motives in line with the will of God because our flesh always wants to receive some sort of glory of praise.

There’s that natural tendency to want a compliment for a job well done, a task completed, a grudge let go or anything that would cause us to say to ourselves “I made it.”  Many are falling victim to a “self-made” mindset. Many in this day are thinking they are a self-made individual, but there are none.  What has been given to someone has been given by God and God alone, the problem is, we tend to take for granted that God has allowed us to have it and we take it on ourselves to gloat and brag about what God has done, given or is doing.  It’s a dangerous trap. Even when God blesses us we must watch out from stepping into the spotlight that God alone deserves.  Pride is a topic that could be discussed for ages and has been by the Church of Jesus Christ.  However, there are some antidotes for the spiritual sickness of pride. It’s rather simple.

Letting God search your heart is the start.  When He finds it, confess it and acknowledge that it’s pride.  It’s not about how much you do for the world it’s about how much you do for the one person in the world who needs you.  Peace!

Father God in Jesus Name I thank You for Your love and grace. I pray for the searching of our hearts for hidden and known pride.  Help us to release it and let go of it. Father, teach us to be humble and remain in a state of humility so You can show us what You desire, be who You want us to be and reach who You want us to reach in Jesus Name. Amen.
